I hope this is the right tech support comm for general Lemmy issues; not sure if this is limited to just Lemmy.World nor do I know if my problem is instance related…
Anyway… Got a DM from a user about an hour ago, but when I try to reply I am given an error that the user does not exist. Their profile is viewable. They just messaged me. I know they are active on the site, as I see them posting pretty regularly… Not sure why I can’t DM them back tho.
I just sent you a DM for testing purposes. Let’s see if you can reply to that one.

Maybe the user blocked you?
They responded to a comment I left them on the last comment they left just to let them know I am having trouble replying directly to their DM, and they replied to that so I don’t think the user blocked me.
Their instance could have problems with my instance, tho. I don’t 100% know what the effect of defederation at the instance level is. I know from the user level, I can still see blocked instance users if they post/comment on unblocked instances. Though if this was the cause, I wouldn’t expect them to be able to send me stuff either 🤷🏻♂️
The other user is on infosec.pub, and they have an instance specific support community, ask it there, maybe their admin can see something we can’t: !infosecpub@infosec.pub
