I hope his year on the loose was enjoyable for him. It was amazing to see him thrive in a place so strange to where he would have been naturally and he did well through 2 winters.
Poisoning is what I feared most for him. I hope he did not suffer long, and I’m glad his caretakers at least get closure and he didn’t just vanish somewhere never to be seen again. They never gave up trying to make sure he was as safe as possible given the situation.

Agreed. His story was inspiring and it is not the end I would wish for any bird. Sadly, too many die in this way.
