I’m currently wearing a continuous glucose monitor. Does that count? I’m all for anything voluntary especially if it improves quality of life without impeding on others.
Christian studying via The Hebrew Bible by Robert Alter as well as watching Bible Project classroom along with their podcast.
Foster / adoptive family in NC, USA preparing to help lead a local ministry to aid other such families in the area.

Yep, this is what I’ve started doing and actually works better for my work flow as I use Wireguard for work related tasks as well.
This is near exactly me; only difference is that I do not play things out ahead of time.
Here’s a 60-day free trial to tinker with as well: https://www.linode.com/tux
I’m currently self hosting:
The last two are local-network only and the most recent additions; still just tinkering with them at this point.
My favorite of the list is probably TT-RSS which I use for podcasts and to keep tabs on a few sub-reddits I had participated in before moving to Lemmy.
Our biological kids were about 12/13 when we started fostering. Our first long term placement that we adopted finalized a few years later and was 10 when they were first placed. They got along really well and still do.
Our next two adoptions were 2 when place so that was a big change but at that age the older kids were able to help babysit etc. and while the older kids still consider them siblings the relationship is certainly different from the big age gap.
The final three adoptions were 10/12/14 at the time and a sibling group. They blended in rather well fitting right between the older and younger kids. Now they all play together quite well and will break off into different groups depending on what activity they’re doing.
Feel free to ask any follow ups.
We have:
Oldest 2 are biological with the others adopted from foster care; all have been a tremendous blessing.
Cool concept! And congrats on getting it up and running :)
Thanks; quite a few have recommended this one which is nice to see
Fantastic; thank you :)
Very cool design; how well do they stay put on the desk? My last split keyboard would nudge slowly during use and had to be moved back which I found annoying.
The Advantage 2 looks pretty good; bit pricey though I expected as much. Thank you!
Yeah, bigger solutions like Azure, AWS, etc. have some cool features especially for scaling but… that comes with its own headaches.
For earlier stages I personally much prefer a simple VPS where I can freely do what I want with it including total wipes, snapshots / rollbacks, etc.
If you’re comfortable working on a local VM then perhaps a VPS such as Linode or Digital Ocean would be a good place to start; they’re essentially VMs hosted in cloud you have total control of so you can install whatever you want just like a local VM. Even the cheapest VPS option is plenty for this sort of testing.
These have free trials too such as: https://www.linode.com/tux
yt-dl for videos
Or the fork yt-dlp
LOL yep, player count is definitely a consideration :D
My favorite part is working out the mechanics of a game trying to create something new and fun. I almost always start with a mechanical idea that I think on for a long while as I piece together supporting mechanics toward a playable game and part way through that process a theme will generally emerge that aids in finalizing the mechanics.
My published games are Nightfall (and its expansions), World-Z League and an upcoming deckbuilder via Universal Studios that’s manufacturing now.
Unpublished I have an abstract on time travel and a real-time card game about competing food trucks that I co-designed with my son-in-law.
(we have 8 kids so certainly some should take after me right? lol)
Howdy!
I’m a game designer and mostly play gateway games with the kiddos though also love Scythe, Terraforming Mars (lately Ares Expedition) and several others when my son-in-law is in town.
Happy to have a place to talk design here 😊
To be fair I certainly didn’t start with that many; I started with the keto diet roughly 10 years ago, found eggs to be my most convenient breakfast food and slowly built up the number while reducing the size of my lunch.
+1 for Minetest both client and server too; we run one locally for the kiddos :)
