Dude! I had this exact alarm clock when I was a kid!

I’m 40 now and use my phone as an alarm clock. I haven’t had a dedicated alarm clock in like 15 years now.

I think most people just use their phones. I can’t say that I’ve even seen a dedicated alarm clock in half a decade, at least.

Oh, I don’t use my phone. If something happens where it’s not charging (for whatever reason) then I’m not late for work.

I don’t trust phones because I’ve had several that simply failed to activate the alarm randomly and missed something important.

Yeah I have a Sony dream or something. It’s 30 years old and still going strong.

I stared at this trying to figure out what was wrong with that normal alarm clock… Then I remembered it’s not 1998 anymore. Fuck hahahahha

When I was very young I had a similar clock but instead of digital with a screen, it had those flipping number boards. It was really cool and was the coolest thing I owned until something caused the clock to start smelling smoky whenever it was plugged in.

Those things were more digital than digital, but would still get beat by nixie tubes.

That glorious alarm clock has probably seen more shit than I have … arguments, fights, shootings, stabbings, murder, gun fights, torture, hurricanes, mob bosses, FBI surveillance teams, CIA operatives, Russian spies, Chinese spies, actual extraterrestrial aliens, house fires, rain storms, childbirth, broken bones, blood splatter, sex, so much sex, and more sex, seagulls, snowstorms, sea storms, sailors, fishermen, mermaids, pixies and little people.

Anyone else use these with a table top tape recorder to make mix tapes?

Or spend a lifetime looking at the residue atop, from summer melting a thick white rubber band wrapped around your Rocksteady action figure you tossed on top of your clock at bedtime?

The 80s were yesterday right? Weird to think how “just yesterday” the 50s and 60a felt to our parents which felt so foreign to our modern times. The size of the jump now… jfc… telling my kid about back in my day feels like medieval times. “We didn’t have screens everywhere until a few years ago”… “it wasn’t actually safer but they locked us out of the house all day”… Etc etc old man remarks
