Okay, like, I get the meme, but seeing someone kill a large mouse with a baseball bat remains disturbing. There’s a reason we set traps for these things, you know?

There are different types actually. The one a past roommate had for his attic had no real killing use except if you forgot to check it, in which case dehydration or starving would kill. It involved one way entrances, and normal food like peanut butter as bait.
There are rules in Australia that if you set a trap for an animal you must check the trap at least daily. I don’t know that people actually follow that when it comes to nice though
And then you release the mouse close by and it’s back inside real quick, or you release it far away and it’ll be inside someone else’s house real quick, or you release it in “nature” and I’ll die anyway because house mice have evolved to survive in houses.
Kill traps suck, but “humane” traps either don’t solve the problem or are worse.

The phrase Golly has fallen out of popularity given its roots in racist caricature “gollywog” which sucks because honestly what a fun to say word that was.
If it helps, etymonline has them the other way around with ‘golly’ being a mild oath for god and ‘gollywog’ not having a definitive link.
