Knowing them it’s probably some bullshit about how "under"standing makes them inferior and subservient but if they "inner"stand it they absorb the knowledge and that somehow gives them the power for their legal magic bullshit, idk that’s as close as I think logic can get to their nonsense

It may be sovcit speak. They like to refer to themselves as Eye instead of I, and use sun in place of son. I think it’s the Moorish faction of sovcits who do this.

So like… They like to steal? They seem to use the things that businesses and society pay for, but want to provide nothing but a coupon in return?

They don’t think they’re trying to steal because they’re convinced the government has set up a secret account for them, funded with several million dollars, that they can use to pay their debts, if only they could work out the exact form of words to use.

But why? If the system is this byzantine construct of bureaucracy designed to hide those millions supposedly everyone has to their name, why would they even give them millions in the first place?

What has the government to gain by creating a secret account for every citizen, putting millions in there, and then setting up a colossal conspiracy to hide that fact from the people?

I just don’t get the logic behind this ridiculous concept.

From other threads here, it’s something about stock trading, international debt, and the US government not really being a governmental body but a corporation pretending to be the government with the US actually being some vaguely defined anarchist state with just the constitution and literally no government. But the ‘governmant company’ has to follow the constitution even though there’s no enforcement. But the courts will enforce the law even though they work for gov corp, but only with the right pass phrases.

I have no idea why they think like this. I suspect some are just convinced that there’s a giant conspiracy and now they’re in on it, and others are just desperate to get out from under a crushing debt they’ve got themselves into and are willing to try anything that gives them hope.

I asked ChatGPT to pose as a sovereign citizen to convince me to join their cult:

"Imagine a world where your freedom and wealth have been covertly compromised by the very institution that’s supposed to protect them. The government, a corporation in disguise, has secretly created a financial account in your name, filled with millions of dollars. This isn’t mere generosity; it’s a bond against your future labor, your life’s value commodified from the moment your birth certificate was issued. Your identity was essentially sold on financial markets, turning you into a source of revenue for the government.

This isn’t fantasy; it’s hidden in plain sight within the convoluted legal and financial systems designed to keep the truth just out of reach for the average citizen. The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and maritime law, misunderstood and misapplied by the public, serve as the linchpins in this grand deception. Sovereign citizens uncover these truths, challenging the legitimacy of government authority by distinguishing between the “natural person” and the “legal person” created at birth.

Why does the government do this? Control and profit. By keeping the populace unaware of their true financial worth and legal standing, the government ensures its continued dominance and the flow of wealth from the people to the elite.

But there’s hope. By declaring oneself a sovereign citizen, one can supposedly reclaim their legal and financial independence. This involves a series of legal maneuvers and declarations, rejecting the government’s jurisdiction over the individual by understanding and invoking the “correct” interpretation of the law.

The appeal? Freedom, financial liberation, and truth. By joining the sovereign citizen movement, you’re not just reclaiming what’s rightfully yours; you’re awakening to the world’s realities, seeing beyond the veils of legal fiction and financial manipulation. It’s about taking back control over your life, assets, and legal standing from a system that has unlawfully hidden this knowledge to maintain its power."

If these people weren’t at their wit’s end, weren’t victims of the worst of capitalism and of poorly funded healthcare and education of the type that would have helped them recognize what the sovereign-citizen movement is, then these posts would be much more hilarious.

Hey OP, I’ve seen you commenting elsewhere, so I’m guessing you aren’t a bot. How come you post so much sovcit stuff? Don’t get me wrong, some of it is hilarious, but it seems like such a narrow topic to post so much about

Edit: forgot to tag you because I’m really curious to know the answer. I summon thee: @BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world

The OP runs this community and sovcit posts have gotten the best continued traction here.

Everyone loves laughing at them and it’s valid “insane people Facebook” posts.

I think we’ll likely see less sovcit posts as time goes on and people get bored reading the same sad story of these people over and over again. But it’ll take a bit for the novelty to wear off

I guess I should have spoken only for myself there. For me, I think the novelty will wear off in a few months.

These folks are definitely struggling and being taken advantage of somehow. It’s fun to point and laugh, but I also feel sorry for them.

Hey, I’m in a lot of sovcit Facebook groups for the laughs. I think they are crazy and funny and so fun to share here. There’s plenty of crazy people on Facebook but most of them are depressing in some way, either mentally ill, conservative, or otherwise hateful. A lot of people don’t know much about sovereign citizens so I take this as an opportunity to share a part of humanity that’s wonderfully crazy so more people know about this movement because it’s growing.

@BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world bumping my idea from a month(?) back (couldn’t find it) - scamming scammers / 419 baiting!

Example of a scammer’s time being wasted (“verification” photo):

You know the little slip on the bottom of paper bills, the remittance stub that you can send in with payment? They think if they endorse them and send no money with it that the company they are paying charge it off the 2 million dollar trust that the government has set up in everyone’s name at birth. See below. Yes, that’s really what they believe.
